Venue Technical Manager

 

We are looking for an experienced Technical Manager to join our team based at a prestigious 5 star London venue.

You will oversee the technical delivery of audio-visual installations and events, delivered primarily in the UK, but with the opportunity to work globally.

Primary Responsibilities

 

  • Managing the technical elements of a job from the point of quotation up until the point of delivery.
  • Management and briefing of the on-site technical team to ensure that the delivery of the job is both efficient and technically sound.
  • Stepping in as an operator on-site during major productions and events where necessary.
  • Installing/de-rigging equipment to the highest level as per procedures.
  • Providing on the spot diagnosis and rectification of technical issues as and when they occur.
  • Contributing to post-event review meetings to discuss any operational or technical issues.
  • Maintaining Health and Safety standards and ensuring on-site Health and Safety briefings are held.

 

Role Requirements

 

  • Strong knowledge of audio, video, networking and lighting techniques is essential.
  • Demonstrated technical/electronics training and/or experience is required.
  • Must have good troubleshooting and repair skills.
  • Must be creative and resourceful.
  • Strong commercial awareness / budgetary skills with the ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of company business and the ability to effectively balance cost, quality and ensure profitability.
  • Display a positive leadership style to motivate and gain commitment from others.
  • Influencing skills - the ability to command respect, engage and influence others.
  • Must be able to take directions as well as multitask in a fast-paced environment without supervision.
  • Must have a positive attitude, be team-orientated and have great customer service skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact at all levels clearly, concisely and accurately using the most appropriate methods, often under deadline pressure.
  • Ability to interpret clients’ needs to build working relationships and deliver service solutions that exceed expectations.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills used to prioritise effectively, work systematically and delegate appropriately.

 

Physical Requirements

 

The job duties and tasks of this position require the employee to regularly stand and walk. Regular use of computer monitors and a keyboard/mouse will be required. The employee must regularly push, pull, bend, climb, reach, twist, and kneel as well as lift and/or move 25kg. Other physical requirements of the job include communication, excellent aural skills and visual acuity such as close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus in addition to manual dexterity. The employee will not always be in a temperature-controlled work environment and may experience temperature variations due to local weather conditions.

 

Availability:

 

Overtime will be required as necessitated by the needs of the business which will include early mornings, late evenings and weekends.  Overnight stays will also be required occasionally.  The ability to facilitate this is key as the needs of the business are paramount.
