Position Overview

 

Revenue Growth Management (RGM) is an integrated, strategic approach to driving sustainable growth in revenue and margin. This function’s purpose is to drive achievement of net revenue, gross margin and market share goals by providing analytics, actionable insights and recommendations. The RGM team supports this outcome by creating and improving pricing, promotional processes, forecasting accuracy and integrating tools.  RGM collaborates most closely with Sales, Finance and Marketing.

 

The Manager, Trade Pricing & Promotion has responsibility for the development and support of net price strategy and sales forecasts. The Manager will deliver analytics, guidance and reporting that serve to optimize gross price and trade spend to maximize gross margin.  In addition, the Manager will be responsible for coordinating, communicating, and executing the annual Trade Planning process, working closely with the Sales and Finance teams.

The role reports to the RGM Director and will not initially have supervisory responsibility.


Function Related Activities/Key Responsibilities

 

  • Develops trade promotion strategies that deliver on Company objectives
  • Responsible for developing, implementing, and refining the annual trade planning process
  • Owns the RGM Trade Promotional Management (TPM) tool (UpClear BluePlanner).
  • Accountable for accurate forecasting and trade tracking within the TPM tool, ensuring that the proper reporting, process, controls and communication are in place to support overall company objectives
  • Creates & manages performance for promotional pricing guardrails and guidelines
  • Drives the understanding and implementation of promotional objectives across the organization
  • Creates and executes a Post-Event Analysis process, driving ROI evaluation
  • Works strategically with the Director and RGM staff to establish key trade and customer objectives
  • Works collaboratively with Sales Managers to effectively manage and oversee the use of promotional spend
  • Works collaboratively with RGM Analyst to prepare insight-driven analysis from internal and external data sources
  • Works with customer teams on customer specific pricing needs and pricing exceptions
  • Directly engages with Sales team to drive strategy into execution for top customers' business reviews
  • Leads ad-hoc projects that enhance the company’s growth and profitability
  • Prepares and delivers regular reports to the management team, highlighting financial and sales performance, variances, and areas for improvement
  • May be asked to perform additional duties as necessary

 

Position Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA a plus
  • Minimum 5 years of experience within branded CPG industry, preferably food and beverage or other promotionally sensitive, highly elastic commodity categories
    • Experience with Community Coffee, even if unrelated, may fulfill this requirement at the discretion of the hiring manager with approval from Human Resources.
  • Experience with CPG trade strategy, specifically pricing, post-promotional analysis, competitor benchmarking and trade spend effectiveness
  • Exceptional analytical ability and financial acumen with demonstrated experience in synthesizing complex data, drawing insights, and developing actionable recommendations
  • Proven ability to develop innovative and creative solutions that result in higher profitability
  • Understanding of Trade Promotion Management (TPM) and Trade Promotional Optimization (TPO) tools; experience with sales forecasting in TPM/TPO applications
  • Ability to be a change agent to help drive change management across the organization regarding price realization
  • Understanding of P&L, Price Elasticity, Trade Spend, Return on Investment, Gross Margin
