Position Overview

Responsible for resolving customer deductions in an efficient and timely manner while identifying trends in customer behavior and assessing areas of improvement.  Maintaining customer data in internal systems and gathering information to resolve issues impacting the collections process or other business functions. This role will identify and resolve all types of deductions and owns the financial integrity of all deduction-related transactions.


Function Related Activities/Key Responsibilities

  • Research deductions, including spoilage, cash discounts, promotional discounts, rebates, product returns, freight claims and other adjustments taken by customers and work cross functionally with other departments to ensure timely resolution
  • Manage customer chargebacks and the timely issuance of credit for valid deductions
  • Through research, identify invalid customer deductions and develop specific reimbursement plans with sales team to recoup any amounts owed and avoid further invalid deductions
  • Assist internal and external customers with requests and work cross functionally to identify and implement next steps/actions (account set up, master data maintenance, etc)
  • Prepare monthly reports and assist with bad debt analysis
  • Identify trends at the customer level by performing root cause analysis and communicate trends to management; develop recommendations for the team to review and implement
  • Work on ad hoc projects as assigned including research projects, reconciliation and process implementation 
  • Assists in developing Key Performance Metrics (KPI’s) and policies in collections and deductions
  • May be requested to perform different or additional duties as assigned

 

 

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business-related field or equivalent experience in similar accounting role.
  • 2+ years’ experience working in Accounts Receivable and/or Credit department preferred.
    • Experience working cross functionally with these departments may fulfill this requirement.
    • Experience with Community Coffee, even if unrelated, may fulfill this requirement at the discretion of the hiring manager with approval from Human Resources.
  • Advanced proficiency of accounting software and MS Excel
  • Knowledge of SAP a plus
