Overview

We are seeking a polished, proactive and professional Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Corporate Quality organization at our facility in Orangeburg, NY.  In this role within the Quality Assurance Engineering team, you will design and execute destructive tests to ensure that Crestron's products are robust, reliable, and fit for use within their intended application.  This testing includes drop, thermal & humidity, shock, impact, vibration, force, torsion, ESD, mechanical wear-out cycling, connector/cable performance, power fault, max electrical load, battery charging, miswiring, ESD, particle ingress, PCBA strain, BGA dye and pull, and many many more.  You will support this testing from start to finish - developing the test requirements for the product, supporting the lab technicians with performing the tests, reviewing/finalizing the test reports, and working with various engineering teams to review and correct any issues.

You will also be responsible for developing and maintaining general requirements/specifications documents for various material types and finished goods, as well as ensuring that all appropriate specifications are included in the Statements of Work (SOW) given to our suppliers, in conjunction with the Master Service Agreement (MSA).  The content of the specification documents can include, but is not limited to:  packaging, environmental, robustness, finished goods products (electrical, assembly, cosmetic, etc.), PCBs and PCBAs, plastics, metals, touch screens and displays, and cables.  To develop the specification documents, you will combine your pre-existing subject matter knowledge with information gained through cross-functional engineering collaboration and individual research into industry standards.  Collaboration with internal engineering teams to attain agreement on specifications will be key.

Additionally, you will review select field failure trends to determine root cause, and participate in the corrective action process.  This includes mechanical analysis of the defect and the execution of various performance and reliability tests in order to simulate conditions that may have caused the field unit failures.
