Quality Technician

Position Summary

Responsible for ensuring the products meet or exceed quality standards and specifications. This position will lead and manage quality improvement projects, conduct root cause analysis of quality issues, analyze data to identify trends in product quality, and work with cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions and improvements to manufacturing processes.

Job Duties     
  • Responsible for overall quality of finished good product manufactured and imported from Ameriwood vendors.       
  • Analyzes data for quality trends and communicates findings to Supply Chain Management.        
  • Provides guidance to quality inspectors in the Dorel Home Furnishings shared service organization in Asia.        
  • Reviews statistical information and provides technical assistance/guidance as needed to the engineering teams overseas.        
  • Reviews inspection reports and addresses problems, as necessary.        
  • Develops procedures for inspections and processes.        
  • Provides input regarding quality for the Supplier Rating system.        
  • Interacts with Vendors, as needed.        
  • Maintain training and development plans for quality inspectors in the Dorel Home Furnishings shared service organization in Asia.        
  • Maintain focus on continuous improvement through researching and sourcing innovative, cost-efficient business solutions.        
  • Assist technical services coordinators with field questions from the customer or the end consumer.        
  • Sets and maintains quality standards consistent with other producers in the industry.        
  • Visits customer job sites if necessary to establish responsibility for field failures and corrective action, if necessary.
Qualifications
 

·         Education Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s degree in quality engineering or similar field preferred

·         Prior Experience

  • 0 - 2 Years of Quality Assurance or Quality Engineering preferred and in a manufacturing environment preferable

·         Hard Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) 
  • Strong knowledge of Quality Assurance practices  
  • Strong knowledge of Quality Engineering practices

Soft skills
  • Ability to multi-task and balance competing priorities  
  • Strong creative, analytic and organization skills  
  • Strong technical skills and ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.  
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials.  
  • Experience with quality control procedures and standards.  
  • Experience with statistical process control (SPC) preferred.   
  • Ability to analyze data and identify trends in product quality and manufacturing processes.
About this role
  • Location: hybrid work available but preferred to be in the Saint Louis, MO area
