Job Description:
 
The Corporate Environmental Manager generates assignments. Projects constitute the majority of the workload and are largely self-initiated. Exercises initiative, originality and sound judgment in applying engineering and project management theories and practices to ensure effective solutions to operational requirements within environmental limits. Work is performed independently or with minimal supervision.

Reviews corporate operations for comparison to industry standards to determine compliance with laws and regulations. Based upon knowledge of organizational goals and constraints, makes recommendations regarding commitments of manpower, funds and material. Assists with and occasionally directs efforts for expansion projects that require new permits and resolves problems with unique and innovative solutions independently.

Represents the corporation at meetings with the state and Federal regulatory agencies. Participates as a member of internal audit teams to develop improved procedures for environmental monitoring and compliance. May act as technical representative for technical committees for national industry associations (e.g. Vinyl Institute, AFPM and CRWI).
 
Assists with the design and implementation of compliance programs required for a major petrochemical complex operating at 2 locations. Efforts focus mainly on compliance with the Federal Clean Air Act (CAA), and to a lesser extent on Clean Water Act, RCRA, State regulations and corporate policies/procedures. Provides expert technical support to all company locations.
 
QUALIFICATION REQUIRED:  MINIMUM COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND/OR PRIOR TRAINING:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree, 4 year (B.S.) in a science or engineering discipline with at least 10 years of applicable environmental engineering experience. Chemical Engineering degree preferred.
  • 10-15 years of applicable environmental consulting experience especially related to Clean Air Act programs (NSPS, MACT, TV, GHG, LDAR, et cetera) and some experience with other major environmental programs (CWA, RCRA, et cetera).
  • Strong project management experience and written and oral communication skills required.
  • Use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Office Project software or equivalent essential, familiarity with LDAR software.
  • Experience and training in CAA, CWA, and RCRA programs desired.
  • Travel required 10-25% at times, to support site programs or Industry Association activities.
  • Must have regular, reliable attendance as well as the ability to work outside the regular schedule as required.
  • Physical requirements include duties common to a regular office environment.
