Formosa Plastics is a privately held company headquartered in Livingston, New Jersey. Our core business, producing plastic resins and petrochemicals, takes place at three wholly-owned chemical manufacturing subsidiaries located in Delaware City, Delaware, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Point Comfort, Texas.

I.    POSITION OBJECTIVE 

This position exists to optimize the utilization of physical assets and technology resources to manufacture the highest quality products in the most efficient and effective manner, reduce costs and increase operating profit in IEM/ EDC.  The Instrument Engineer increases productivity and adds value by integrating plant assets, personnel, technology, energy, effective maintenance, instrumentation, production, and material flow processes while sustaining a safe and healthful working environment that meets environmental, health, and safety regulatory and Company requirements.

 

II.    MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY 

Equipment Reliability: Provide Instrument Maintenance support to the IEM/EDC, which will enable the Unit to achieve smooth operation, manufacture high-quality products, and avoid unscheduled process interruptions. This will be achieved by utilizing industries' best practices, benchmarking, and planning, abnormal analysis, and initiation and maintenance procedures.
 
Maintenance Performance: Communicate and work with IEM/EDC Operations continuously to establish equipment criticality and provide standby equipment for critical equipment. Historical files shall be established and well-maintained to correct diagnoses of equipment failures and performance of equipment maintenance. 
 
Maintenance Support: Provide Instrument Support to Operations of the IEM/EDC to ensure compliance with State and Federal Environmental Regulations. Provide Instrument Support for the IEM/EDC plant including Preventative Maintenance, backup-up programs, supporting technicians with instrument calibration and or scheduling training, and any other activity assigned by the Unit Manager.  

Lead and Facilitate:  Review abnormalities with Instruments to improve the overall performance of the instrumentation in the IEM/EDC. Work with other departments associated with IEM/EDC to enhance product quality and plant reliability.

THM: Promote cleanliness and order through the implementation of the Total Housekeeping Maintenance program. Emphasize Nothing Touch Ground program and No Visual Pollution program. Maintain the plant in like new condition.

 

III. QUALIFICATIONS

  • No experience is required; experience in instrument maintenance or other plant manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred. Other related engineering disciplines considered.
