Formosa Plastics is a privately held company headquartered in Livingston, New Jersey. Our core business, producing plastic resins and petrochemicals, takes place at three wholly-owned chemical manufacturing subsidiaries located in Delaware City, Delaware, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Point Comfort, Texas.

I.                POSITION OBJECTIVE

 

To perform the duties of a Rail Car Loading Operator within the PPII department

 

II.              QUALIFICATIONS

 

    1. High School graduate or equivalent
    2. Valid Driver’s License
    3. 1-3 years Rail Car Loading experience preferred but not required.

 

III.           TRAINING

 

Policy, Procedure and Safety training available after hire.

 

IV.            DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

    1. Make proper shift relief including shift handover utilizing J5
    2. Check silo levels
    3. Inspect Loading stations
    4. Inspect Hopper cars for defects
    5. Weigh Hopper cars
    6. Perform minor Hopper car repairs
    7. Permit work in area utilizing the safe work permits
    8. Lock out equipment as required for maintenance activities
    9. Perform Loading Operator Round and Inspections utilizing J5
    10. Perform minor repairs to loading equipment
    11. Perform magnet and screen inspections
    12. Maintain accurate and detailed log book utilizing J5
    13. Catch required and requested samples with proper labeling and documentation.
    14. Maintain clean work area per THM and OCS programs
    15. Adhere/Implement/educate/train and adhere to all company policies and procedures including but not limited to, ISO, personnel, quality, environmental, health, safety, Federal and State laws, regulatory and company requirements
    16. Comply with NTG (Nothing Touching the Ground) requirements. Including daily audits.

 

IV.           DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Continued)

 

    1. Employee is responsible for managing hazardous and non-hazardous wastes as required by State and Federal regulations and in compliance with FPC-TX policies regarding hazardous and non-hazardous waste management.
    2. Work outside normal shift hours as needed.
    3. Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
    4. Perform other duties as assigned.

VI.            PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

 

  1. Climbing, ascending or descending ladder, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized.
  2. Balancing, maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery or erratically moving surfaces.
  3. Stooping, bending body downward and forward by bending spine and waist. Example: Catching Samples.
  4. Kneeling: bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
  5. Crouching bends the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
  6. Crawling, moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.
  7. Reaching, extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  8. Standing, particularly for sustained periods of time.
  9. Walking, moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances.
  10. Pushing, using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward, or outward.
  11. Pulling, using upper extremities to exert force in order to drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.

 

DEGREE OF LIFTING ON A REGULAR BASIS: 75lbs

 

  1. Lifting, raising objects from a lower to higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position.
  2. Fingering, picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather that the whole hand or arm as in handling.
  1. Grasping, applying pressure to an object with fingers and palm.
  2. Feeling, perceiving attributes of objects such as size, shape, temperature of texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
  3. Talking, expressing, or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words.
  4. Hearing, perceiving the nature of sounds with no more than a 40 Db loss @ 500 Hz, 1,000 Hz, and 2,000 Hz with or without correction, Ability to receive verbal communication and to make fine discriminations in sound such as when making fine adjustments on machined parts.
  5. Repetitive motions, substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands and/ or fingers.
  6. Respirator use while preforming task.

 

VII.             VISUAL ACTIVITY REQUIRED

 

  1. Loading operation, inspection, close assembly, clerical and administrative duties.
  2. Mobile equipment operations, operate cars, trucks, forklifts
  3. Other criteria based on accuracy and neatness of work.
  4. Position requires individual to differentiate colors, depth and perception.

 

VIII.             CONDITIONS SUBJECTED TO THIS POSITION

 

  1. Inside environmental conditions protected from weather conditions not necessarily room temperature conditions.
  2. Outside environmental conditions, no effective protection from weather.
  3. Inside and outside conditions, no effective protection from weather.
  4. Subject to extreme cold, temperatures below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour.
  5. Subject to extreme heat, temperatures above 100 degrees for periods more than one hour.
  6. Subject to noise, causing reason to shout in order to he heard above the noise.
  7. Subject to vibration, exposure fluctuating movements of the body
  8. Subject to hazards such as moving machinery, electrical currents, falling debris, exposure to chemicals, gases, high heat or explosives.
  9. Subject to unregulated atmospheric conditions caused by odors, fumes, gases, poor ventilation, and dust.
  10. Subject to oils and other cutting fluids via touch or air.
  11. Air density conditions causing the use of a respirator.
