Formosa Plastics is a privately held company headquartered in Livingston, New Jersey. Our core business, producing plastic resins and petrochemicals, takes place at three wholly-owned chemical manufacturing subsidiaries located in Delaware City, Delaware, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Point Comfort, Texas.

I.    POSITION OBJECTIVE 
The Process Engineer increases productivity by integrating plant assets, personnel, technology, energy, MIS, effective maintenance, instrumentation, production, raw material handling, and material flow processes. The Process Engineer will also assist in daily plant operations by interfacing and coordinating activities with plant personnel. The Process Engineer will assist in improvement projects, data review, and meeting operational objectives. All while sustaining a safe and healthful working environment that meets environmental, health, and safety regulations and Company requirements.

II.    MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY 

Project Management: Study the process and look for areas of improvement that will help the unit achieve Best Industry Practice and correct problem areas. Follow up with projects on a routine basis utilizing best practices, bench marking, planning, root cause analysis, and any other BACT.

Operations Support: Provide regulatory support to enable the Unit to achieve smooth operation, and avoid scheduled process interruptions. This can be achieved by interacting with various process units/support divisions to determine environmental, regulatory, procedure, or process related issues. Maintain DCS/SIS systems and perform modifications.

Process Safety Management: Assist with elements of process safety and projects such as Management of Change, Process Safety Information updates, P&ID modifications, and perform Pre-Start Up Safety Reviews.

Staff Development: Engaged and self-motivated to learn through available educational materials, researching on the internet, staying up to date on safety and standard operating procedure training and development. Learn from previous unit experiences. Engage and participate through direct collaboration with area supervisor and manager in daily field activities to better comprehend the area needs and responsibilities.

Improvement Projects: Develop professional and detailed B-1 improvement projects, assist in design, construction, coordinate pre-startup and startup activities, and close the project.

THM: Promote cleanliness and order through implementation of the Total House Keeping Maintenance Program. Emphasize Nothing Touch the Ground and No Visual Pollution program.
Maintain the plant like new condition.

III. QUALIFICATIONS

A. TECHNICAL JOB CRITERIA 

1. Previous Related Experience Required
No prior experience is required but 1 ~ 2 experience in a petro-chemical or refinery environment is preferred.

2. Technical Skills Required To Perform This Job
•    Knowledge of Thermodynamics, Energy & material balance, Unit operations, heat/mass transfer, fluid statics and Dynamic, kinetics, engineering economies.
•    General knowledge on materials standards (e.g. ASTM, ANSI, ASME, API, NACE and ISO)
•    Personal computer skills and applicable software.
•    Wiliness to take over areas of responsibilities.

3. Education (Minimal Education Needed)
B.S. Degree Chemical engineering; other related engineering disciplines are considered.

4. Other Certification/Training Required To Gain Function-Related Technical Knowledge
•    Will require training in Company Policies and Procedures after hire.
•    Current employees must meet all technical and safety training requirements for current position, as specified in the Master Training Plan.
