Security Benefit is searching for an experienced Senior Data Governance Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate may work remotely but will be required to travel to our home office in Topeka, Kansas or our Overland Park, Kansas office periodically. Security Benefit associates are working in a hybrid environment with both remote and on-site work.

What Does the Job Look Like?

The Senior Data Governance Analyst will be responsible for helping to ensure that data within the organization is accurate, consistent, and secure. This role involves operationalizing data governance policies, procedures, and standards across the organization to maintain data quality and integrity. The Data Governance Analyst works closely with stakeholders from various departments to establish data management best practices and to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Serve as a liaison between IT and business stakeholders to align data governance initiatives with business objectives.
  • Establish and maintain data quality metrics and monitoring processes.
  • Manage and maintain Collibra data governance tool
  • Facilitate writing and maintenance of business data glossary in conjunction with business data stewards and other subject matter experts
  • Implement data access controls and security measures to protect sensitive data.
  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of data governance tools and technologies.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of data governance documentation and artifacts.
  • Create data quality dashboards and KPI reports about data.
  • Establish and develop the Data Steward capability ensuring key business areas are properly represented in the Data Stewardship community
  • Develop and streamline Data Stewardship processes and workflows to increase efficiency

 

Who Are You?

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business administration, or related field or relevant work experience
  • Eight (8)+ years of data and business analysis experience with five (5)+ years direct experience in data governance.
  • Strong understanding of data governance principles, practices, and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with data quality tools and techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience working with data governance tools and processes (Collibra preferred)
  • Able to effectively manage competing deliverables and meet tight deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Proactive, well organized, detail oriented, strong decision-making and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Able to document workflows and processes

 

 The following criteria would be considered advantageous:

  • Financial industry or annuity/mutual fund knowledge and experience preferred
  • Strong SQL and/or Excel skills with ability to learn additional tools as needed
  • Experience with the Collibra Data Intelligence Platform, including Data Quality & Observability, preferred
  • Experience with data technologies and has contributed to the development of a data system. A basic understanding of metadata and data lineage concepts, hygiene and the business domain.
  • Knowledge of Metadata methodology - relationships between data elements and business elements
  • Experience working in Agile teams.
