GENERAL FUNCTION
Under the direction of the Vice President of Youth Development, the Association Director of Before & After School will act as the expert in out-of-school time programming for the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis. This position is responsible for providing leadership to the Youth Development Team in the areas of program quality, safety, and the daily operations of the YMCA’s Before & After School program. The Association Director of Before & After School is responsible for seeking additional funding opportunities and managing the budget to ensure financial stability of the Before & After School program.

KNOW HOW

This position requires a BA/BS degree in child development, recreation, elementary education or related field and 4-5 years related experience. Applicant must have proven management and programming skills with special emphasis on youth, teen and family activities and volunteer recruitment/training. The ability to relate to all age groups is essential. Experience with grant writing, coaching, compliance, program quality, and program development is also important. The need exists to be current with community trends. College education and previous experience with the YMCA or a similar agency is vital to the success in this position.

Due to the diversity of responsibility, a high degree of organizational ability is needed. Strong skills are necessary in supervision, management, income production, expense control, public relations, promotion, communication skills, and record-keeping. Additionally, strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with the ability to identify and leverage relevant data to use in planning and decision-making skills is required.
