Operations / Plant Manager - Decatur, AL

Due to continued growth and a recent promotion, EFP, LLC (Engineered Foam Packaging) is hiring a new Operations Manager / Plant Manager to lead our Decatur, AL manufacturing plant.

An industry leader in providing practical solutions to foam molding and fabrication, EFP has a diversified product offering and serves the pharmaceutical, biotech, medical, automotive, recreational vehicle, appliance, plumbing, consumer goods, and building and construction industries. The company is headquartered in Elkhart, IN and has additional manufacturing locations in Decatur, AL, Evansville, IN, Nashville, TN, Reno, NV, and soon opening in Bishopville, SC.

Position Summary

The Operations Manager / Plant Manager position is a critical part of our company’s leadership team and will be responsible for the management of the company’s manufacturing plant in Decatur, AL.

The Operations Manager / Plant Manager reports to the company’s Vice President of Operations and provides leadership in the strategic and operational activities of the Decatur, AL location to ensure that key initiatives and financial performance metrics are achieved.

The Operations Manager / Plant Manager will have eight directly reporting employees. The plant is a three-shift operation with 120 team members.

Key Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Develops and executes plans around safety, productivity, quality, on-time and complete delivery, and customer service.
• Establishes, communicates, and reviews operating metrics with staff.
• Fosters work environment conducive to attraction and retention of employees.
• Leads employee coaching and developmental activities.
• Collaborates with company leadership team to achieve facility and company objectives.
• Ensures that all company policies and procedures are enforced, and operation complies with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
• Maintains and proactively supports a safe work environment.

Requirements

Position requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business, Management, Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a comparable discipline and 5 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Six Sigma Green Belt or Lean Management Certification is preferred.

The position requires extensive experience and demonstrated success in industrial safety, quality management, customer service, talent management, project management, lean manufacturing, inventory management, and asset utilization. Experience with lean tools and concepts, including Kaizen, 5S, 8-D, RCA, Value Stream Mapping, and VA/VE are necessary for success. P&L leadership experience is required.

The position requires an Operations Manager / Plant Manager who is energetic, customer-centric, hands-on, and a change agent. Must have highly developed leadership, problem solving, decision making, and communication skills.

Position requires occasional overnight travel.
