Design Engineer - SLC

How You Will Make an Impact

The experienced Design Engineer at our Salt Lake City truck center is responsible for creating new and modifying existing engineering documentation.  Responsibilities will encompass creating or modifying drawings, bills of material or other supporting documentation from a truck body specification or sales order. 

Candidates with prior experience in similar industry – highly preferred  

Truck body, vehicle body, up fit, sheet metal fabrication

The Nuts and Bolts

• Create and modify SolidWorks 3D models and AutoCAD drawings for parts and assemblies
• May perform structural analysis for new and existing engineered components
• Layout, draw and reproduce illustrations for reference manuals and technical publications to describe operation and maintenance of mechanical and/or electrical systems
• Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings etc., to assess factors affecting component design
• Design custom parts for integration into vocational vehicles
• Interpret customer specifications and sales orders to complete an engineering package of drawings and bill of material for manufacturing
• Operations support as required
• Support lean manufacturing initiatives
• Work on multiple projects independently

Required Credentials

• Three (3) years of experience in fabrication; truck body or up fit - highly preferred
• Three (3) years of experience (with BSME) - required
• Project Management experience desired
• Solid Works Certification preferred
• Strong computer skills in Word, Outlook, and Excel
