About the Job:
The Sr. Manager, Division SHE&S will have the primary responsibility for planning, implementing, and overseeing the Division’s SHE&S programs in compliance with Odyssey’s Corporate programs. This includes all safety and health-related aspects of the workplace and working activities, such as auditing, inspections, mentoring, coaching, forklift activities, fall protection, hazard communication, electrical safety, equipment safety, incident investigation, training, driver care, regulatory reporting, environmental compliance, Driver Qualification, HOS, etc. This position will ensure that Odyssey facilities are in compliance with, and adhere to OSHA, DOT, FMCSA, EPA, local and company programs and policies, to reduce, manage and prevent work-related injuries and accidents.
In This Role, You Will:
- Support the Company’s SHE&S commitment and initiatives by identifying, communicating, and addressing site and fleet risks.
- Manage and ensure continuous development of a team of Divisional SHE&S professionals.
- Maintain a working knowledge and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local government regulations to include, but not limited to: OSHA, DOT, FMCSA, and EPA.
- Ensure all drivers and site personnel maintain compliance with federal, state, and local SHE&S and DOT regulations including but not limited to site safety, drug and alcohol testing, HOS, Driver file maintenance, MVR monitoring, DOT physicals, and Clearinghouse queries.
- Review DOT ratings, roadside inspections and BASIC Safety Scores and actively works to implement strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure ratings and scores remain within acceptable levels.
- Conduct safety related training and retraining as necessary and performs continuous auditing and inspections to foster safety success. Develop corrective actions to address any deficiency. Produce and interpret common risk assessment and management reports.
- Teach Smith System training, or equivalent, to all company drivers.
- Investigate accidents, injuries and significant events and performs root cause analysis, and review patterns to help identify strategies for improvement.
- Report and communicate to Corporate as required.
- Ensure OSHA and DOT (DOT accident register) reporting is accurate and timely.
- Develop corrective action plans following incident investigations and audits and ensure they are completed in a timely manner.
- Track Division metrics and create reports as required.
- Participate in regulatory compliance investigations as requested.
- Create a positive safety culture for team members by handling SHE&S and DOT related activities in a collaborative manner.
- Develop Job Safety Assessments including potential hazards and protective measures.
- Collect and analyze documentation, statistics, reports, and recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Develop and provide daily, weekly, monthly standard and ad hoc reports as necessary.
- Plan and execute events, safety meetings, accident review meetings, and safety celebrations.

Required:
- Bachelor’s degree is required. A degree in Operations Management, Safety Management, or Business Management is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 + years’ experience in transportation and logistics within a Safety and Operations position.
- Experience working in a warehouse and logistics environment within a SHE&S related role is required.
- Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, FMCSA, and EPA rules and regulations.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, ELDs, etc.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities at any given time.
- Flexibility to be on call in response to the needs of the business.
- Ability to analyze, define, diagnose, and resolve problems based on sound logic and rationale.
- Ability to develop, coach, and mentor others including the ability to provide development experiences and network opportunities, advise, and teach to prepare others for effective job performance.
- Ability to interact cooperatively and collaboratively with others as a team, including those holding divergent and/or opposing views and goals.
- Ability to work in a team and/or without direct supervision.
- Strong organizational skills and time management.
