Job Summary:
Administers the overall program of library services offered to the County in accordance with the policies established by the Library Board. Responsibilities include supervision of the main library, branch libraries and the delivery service.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Implement policies and goals set by the Library Board.
  • Handle personnel: work schedules, hiring, training, supervision, evaluating, performance plans, and termination if necessary.
  • Prepare annual budget and expend funds accordingly, including capital improvement projects when awarded.
  • Collection development and management; selecting adult materials.
  • Prepare monthly and annual reports; maintain library statistics.
  • Oversee development and implementation of programs for children, teens, and adults as well as outreach activities and delivery service.
  • Participate in professional library organizations, consortium activities, statewide initiatives, local groups, etc; professional development & training.
  • Facility management.
  • Circulation duties.
  • Public relations, press releases, presentations, etc.
  • Review policies/procedures; re-train or discipline, if needed; adjust work schedules.
  • Seek additional funds for projects not covered in annual budget.
  • Provide direction, support, and correction of staff if needed.
  • Professional development, training, planning larger projects across the region for public libraries.
  • To work on projects that benefit the public throughout Wisconsin.

Work Requirements:

  • ALA Institution with a Masters of Library and Information Science.
  • Grade I Wisconsin Library Certificate.
