Lube Technician

Non-Exempt

Job Summary:

In this role, a Lube Technician inspects, maintains, and repairs vehicles. A Lube Technician is responsible for performing basic maintenance services on vehicles, including oil changes, tire changes, and other fluid checks. As with all positions within dealerships, Technicians are expected to uphold the highest ethical standards.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Making sure moving parts of the vehicle are lubricated as needed
  • Keeping accurate records of all maintenance services performed
  • Injecting grease into units, such as springs, universal joints and steering knuckles, using hand-or compressed air-powered grease gun
  • Inspecting fluid level of steering gears, power steering reservoirs, transmission differentials, and rear axle housings and shackles
  • Checking air pressure of tires, adding water to the radiator, testing the battery, replacing oil and air filters, inspection and or replacement of cabin filter and wipers
  • Draining oil and refilling crankcase with the correct amount of new lubricant
  • Working alongside a skilled technician to learn how to perform quality vehicle service maintenance repairs
  • Perform brake, tire, and vehicle inspections and complete a Vehicle Inspection Report with accurate information supplied to the customer
  • Additional duties may be assigned as needed

 

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver’s license and safe driving record; required to have California within 30 days
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
  • Ability to perform all essential functions of the job description

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working on motor vehicles
  • Possess mechanical aptitude and knowledge of how automobiles work
  • Completion of National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF), a certified technical training program in automotive technology at a high school or at a community college, as the best preparation for entry-level positions
  • Excellent mechanical repair skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues
  • Proficient with computer diagnostic equipment and software
  • Ability to read service and repair manuals
  • Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion
  • Ability to read work orders
  • Lubrication Technicians should possess mechanical aptitude and knowledge of how automobiles work

 

Physical Demands: 

  • Regularly stands, walks, sits; uses hands; reaches with hands and arms; talks and hears. Occasionally climbs or balances; bend, stretch, stoops, kneels, crouches, squats or crawls to perform repairs and inspections; must be able to lift up to 30 pounds regularly
  • Good vision to inspect repair work

 

Environment/Noise: 

  • Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present
