Job Summary:

In this role, a Lube Technician inspects, maintains, and repairs vehicles. Lube Technicians need to have general knowledge and understanding of how cars operate, as well as their maintenance. As with all positions within dealerships, Technicians are expected to uphold the highest ethical standards.

Essential Functions:

• Making sure moving parts of the vehicle are lubricated as needed.
• Injecting grease into joints and steering knuckles using hand, or air-powered grease guns.
• Inspecting fluid level of steering gears, power steering reservoirs, transmissions, and differentials.
• Checking air pressure of tires, adding coolant to the radiator, testing the battery, replacing oil and air filters, inspection and or replacement of cabin filter and wipers.
• Draining oil and refilling crankcase with the correct amount of new lubricant.  
• Working alongside a skilled technician to learn how to perform quality vehicle service maintenance repairs.
• Perform brake, tire, and vehicle inspections and complete a Vehicle Inspection Report with accurate information supplied to the customer.
• Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid California state sales license
• Valid Driver’s license and safe driving record; required to have California within 30 days
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
• Ability to perform all essential functions of the job description

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working on motor vehicles
• Possess mechanical aptitude and knowledge of how automobiles work
• Completion of National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF), a certified technical training program in automotive technology at a high school or at a community college, as the best preparation for entry-level positions.
• Excellent customer service skills
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues.
• Proficient with computer diagnostic equipment and software.
• Ability to read service and repair manuals.
• Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion.
• Ability to read work orders.

Physical Demands: 

• Regularly stands, walks, sits; uses hands; reaches with hands and arms; talks and hears. Occasionally climbs or balances; bend, stretch, stoops, kneels, crouches, squats or crawls to perform repairs and inspections; lifts up to 30 pounds. 
• Good vision to inspect repair work.

Environment/Noise: 

• Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
