The Finance Supervisor is responsible to direct and manage the finance functions of the business including preparation of timely and accurate financial reports.  This position will also involve coaching and developing the finance department staff. 

 Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage the day to day functions of the Finance department
  • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close
  • Advise staff regarding the handling of non-routine transactions
  • Oversee inventory adjustments and inventory controls
  • Perform and/or approve account reconciliations
  • Approve and file all returns in a timely manner and in accordance with legislation (e.g. GST, US Sales and Consumer Use Tax returns)
  • Supervise and direct accounting departments staff
  • Ensure appropriate policies and procedures are implemented
  • Provide details for IR Reports
  • Manage the internal budgeting process with all regions
  • Prepare organization unit level financial statements (monthly, quarterly and annually)
  • Respond to all customer requests in a timely manner while ensuring compliance with all internal processes
  • Monitor and reconcile the standard charge accounts ensuring limited variances and adjusting individual rate as required
  • Ensure Financial Processes are up to date and maintained on an ongoing basis
Work Experience and Educational Requirements
  • 5 years supervisory experience in an accounting role
  • Post-secondary education in a related field
  • Accounting Designation preferred or relevant experience 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required 
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong leadership capabilities
  • Excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills
  • Understanding of US and Canadian GAAP, legislation and taxation
